Located in the heart of the Baseball District lies West Half, bounded by the Bullpen on one side and Nationals Park on the other. Century provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services for this 665,000 square foot, 13-story, mixed-use building that stands amidst the action of Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
West Half boasts three levels of below–grade parking and 45,000 square feet of retail area on the first two levels. The remainder of the building consists of 465 apartments and associated support/amenities areas, including several gathering rooms, a gym, and rooftop deck spaces.
West Half is LEED Gold®, made possible in part by Century‘s role on this project. Century acted as the energy modeler, demonstrating an over 30% reduction in energy usage below baseline thanks to an energy–efficient envelope and the use of a high performing HVAC system. Century also played an integral part in the design of a stormwater reclaim system that stored and distributed rainwater for use in irrigation and as makeup water to the cooling tower.
