Ballston Quarter is a large mixed-use development including retail and high-rise residential apartment units along Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA. The property owner and developer, Forest City Enterprises, enlisted two design teams for the project, one for the mall expansion and another for the residential tower. Century is proud to have worked concurrently as the MEP engineer on both design teams.
A major renovation and expansion of the Ballston Common Mall was designed. The new four-level complex features an open-air gathering space with street-entry restaurants and shops. Century designed the MEP systems for the mall, public spaces, and connections to the adjoining buildings.
The newly constructed 23-story apartment tower houses over 400 units above two levels of retail space. The tower retail connects to the renovated mall, creating a combined shopping area. 185 spaces of under-ground parking are also available to the apartment residents.
