NXL is providing survey services for the Route 50/606 project in Loudoun County, including GPS surveys to establish horizontal and vertical control on the Virginia State Plane Coordinate System through the project corridor, and topographic survey and cross-sections on the existing roadway. Laser scanning was used to obtain survey data in the travel lanes. This allowed for the collection of data without disrupting traffic, and increased safety by eliminating the need for survey field personnel to be in the roadway. Property and rights-of-way were established, including courthouse deed and plat research, recon and location of existing property monumentation in the field, computation of property boundaries, and right-of-way locations and ownership of parcels. Right-of-way and easement acquisition plats will be prepared based on the design of the roadway widening improvements. Drainage and utilities were also surveyed as part of the corridor survey, as well as creation of a DTM file to generate a TIN and contours.
