I-295 Varina Enon Emergency Repair
NXL, a division of Century Engineering, Inc. provided construction inspection services for the emergency reconstruction and addition of a concrete extension to the Varina Enon Bridge.
The Bridge
The cable-stayed bridge, originally opened to traffic in 1990, spans a total of 4,680 feet. The bridge spans the James River with 150 feet of vertical navigational clearance. Construction included an addition on the north side of Pier 13 and bridge bearing relocation. Our inspectors were responsible for inspecting all phases of this emergency repair project, as well as maintaining project records and advising the contractor accordingly.
