Withstanding Time
Phase I of the project included the construction of the new bridge adjacent to the previous bridge. After the new bridge construction, the old bridge was fully removed. Throughout Phase I, our senior construction inspector monitored the superstructure on the north end and provided additional support as needed with the pile and superstructure inspections. The new bridge was constructed using high-durability concrete and reinforced stainless steel to give it an estimated 100-year life span while providing more options for navigation beneath the bridge.
Implementing Permanent Solutions
During Phase II of the project, we provided construction inspection services during the implementation of permanent solutions for breaches caused by Hurricane Irene in 2011. Withstanding nature’s elements was a top priority for this hurricane-zoned structure, and this new bridge was built to last.
