St. Paul’s School Stadium Renovations

St. Paul’s School Stadium Renovations

As one of the area’s premier private schools, St. Paul’s School needed a modern facility for its athletes and their fans worthy of its picturesque, state-of-the-art campus.

Existing fields and site features made it challenging to fit the new structures into the site, but the architect and civil engineers were able to balance the competing elements. The new cast-in-place concrete riser stadium seating area is flanked by at-grade team rooms with plazas above them. A new steel-framed press box was also part of the project. Precast concrete roof slabs were designed to support the pavers and pedestrian loads over the team rooms. The press box design utilized shop-fabricated frames that could be quickly and cost-effectively erected at the site. The team room basement walls were designed to retain backfill before the superstructure was placed on top of it in order to increase the contractor’s construction sequence options
