NXL, a Kleinfelder Company provided construction inspection services on this 7.6-mile design-build bus rapid transit corridor project that included five median stations and nine curb stations.
The corridor begins on Broad Street near Willow Lawn Drive and moves east to 14th Street within the city, and then east on Main Street to Rocketts Landing. Two terminus stations included a single loading platform while the remaining 12 stations have facilities for east and westbound travel. The BRT route includes a combination of mixed flow, exclusive median, and curb running operations.
NXL was responsible for the QA and QC on this project. Our inspectors and QA manager monitored the contractor’s QC testing and compared compliance with requirements and specifications and that all QC testing was in accordance with VDOT’s design-build guidelines. NXL’s inspectors reviewed traffic control plans and temporary traffic control work zones.
