A Top-Secret Government Facility
The Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center is a highly-classified facility and serves as FEMA’s center of operations. In the event of a natural disaster, the country’s highest-level civilians and military officials will seek refuge there and maintain the continuity of our government.
Ultra-Modern Upgrades
This project involved demolition of an old fixed-nozzle trickling filter wastewater treatment plant and the construction of a new, state-of-the-art membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment plant that is located entirely within a single building. Membrane bioreactor technology results in superior water quality while existing in a compact, yet flexible, series of modular units.
Environmental Considerations
The work involved obtaining a new NPDES permit to meet the Virginia Potomac Embayment Standards for reduction of total nitrogen and phosphorous. The work also included a sewer system evaluation survey and replacement of a significant portion of the old gravity sewer lines for reduction of infiltration and inflow into the new treatment plant.
"Century displayed that they had in-depth knowledge of the wastewater treatment process and their qualifications to discuss the subject was outstanding."
