Lucks Lane Widening

Lucks Lane Widening

Lucks Lane, a road in Chesterfield County, VA, underwent roadway widening from two lanes to four lanes. NXL, A Kleinfelder Company provided construction management and engineering inspection services for this roadway expansion.

The Expansion

This project involved the construction of 6,640 linear feet of roadway widening on Lucks Lane between locations east of Route 288 and east of Spirea Road. The two-lane undivided roadway was expanded to a four-lane divided roadway with bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. The project included the construction of right- and left-turn lanes, the extension of an existing 12×19 quadruple box culvert at Falling Creek, a 412-linear-foot soil nail wall east of Falling Creek, and a 512-soldier pile retaining wall west of Walton Bluff Parkway. The project also included the construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of Walton Bluff Parkway/Water Willow Drive and Lucks Lane. The work included clearing, grading, asphalt paving, drainage structures and piling, box culvert extensions, retaining wall, construction erosion and sediment control, maintenance-of-traffic, traffic signal, signage, pavement markings, parcel clearing and demolition, and relocating existing waterlines.
