Dulles Corridor MetroRail Phases I & II

Dulles Corridor MetroRail Phases I & II

The Dulles Corridor Metrorail project is a new, 23-mile rail line extending service from the existing Orange Line at the East Falls Church Station in Arlington, VA to Route 722 (Ryan Road) in Ashburn, VA. Phase I construction, including the building of piers, caissons, station foundations, and traffic pattern changes on Routes 7 and 123, was completed in July 2014, while Phase II is ongoing. NXL, a division of Century Engineering, Inc., provided construction management services for the project, which has created and will continue to create a lasting impact on transit throughout the greater Washington, D.C. area.

Quality Public Transit

The Century team provided construction management services for Phase I and will continue these services throughout Phase II. Daily oversight included the production, transportation, and erection of precast segments; all post-tensioning fieldwork including installation, stressing, and grouting; and substructure installation and utility relocations. Our team is also providing the construction administration services for the owner, including work on special projects, cost analysis, documentation, and research.

Moving Forward

During Phase II construction, our construction management team will oversee the addition of six metro stations between Reston to Ashburn, VA. Route 7 will be widened and left turn lanes will be eliminated to improve traffic flow, a must in the heart of Virginia’s largest job hub. The Dulles Corridor MetroRail project will ultimately provide high quality public transit and increased access to both the Dulles Corridor and downtown Washington, D.C., aligning with Century’s goal to shape better places to live and work.
