Century is the Authority Engineer for a 110,000 gpd wastewater treatment plant and sanitary sewer collection system, including plan reviews for connection to the sewer system.  Century has designed and provided construction oversight for a number of improvements to the extended aeration wastewater treatment plant to include an equalization basin, an emergency generator system, the enclosure of sludge drying beds, influent grinder replacement, lime slurry feed system, chlorine disinfection upgrades, and phosphorus control system upgrades.  Biosolids and general permitting are also provided.

The following are represented projects:

• Phosphorous Control System Upgrades, Municipal Activated Sludge Plant (0.12 MGD). Century was retained to upgrade the chemical flocculation/precipitation system for phosphorus control. The project also included flocculant jar testing, analysis of results, development of conceptual design, plant pilot study, and installation oversight.
• Blower Motor and Controls Upgrade, Municipal Wastewater Plant. Century is providing engineering design, creation of construction documents, bidding, project management, and permit amendment with PA DEP. The project involves the replacement of blower motors, installation of variable frequency drives, control panel, programmable logic control, and dissolved oxygen monitoring system. The project is intended to eliminate issues at plant with insufficient air for complete nitrification.
• Inflow and Infiltration Studies, Municipal Collection System. Century is responsible for flow monitoring and smoke testing of municipal wastewater collection system. Century identified system deficiencies contributing to I&I and developed recommendations for repair and/or replacement of system mains, manholes, service laterals, and collection components.
• Lime Slurry Feed System, Municipal Activated Sludge Plant (0.12 MGD). Century upgraded the lime slurry feed system for biosolids stabilization and pathogen reduction. The project also included the design and specification of system components including tank, mixer, and feed pumps; preparation of contract documents for construction bid; and oversight of construction phase.
• Chlorine Disinfection Dosing And Monitoring System, Municipal Activated Sludge Plant (0.12 MGD). Century designed the compound loop chlorine disinfection and monitoring system. Our services included retrofit in existing chlorine contact and post-chlorination aeration basin, preparation of contract documents for construction bid, and oversight of construction phase.
• Biosolids Permitting, Municipal Activated Sludge Plant. Century was responsible for general permitting (PAG-08) for land application of Class B biosolids, preparation of biosolids sampling plan, biosolids quality enhancement plan, and other permit submittal requirements.
• Grinder Replacement at Influent Wetwell. Century provided design and construction oversight for the replacement of the in-line grinder on the treatment plant influent line.
