Bristol Road is an important artery with in this portion of Bucks County and Bensalem Township. It provides access to both US 1 and Interstate 276 (PA Turnpike). It is a major local access to the Neshaminy Mall within the western portion of the project. Bristol Road is the only access to the Neshaminy Falls SEPTA Station, which transports commuters to and from center city Philadelphia. The Trevose Fire Company Number 85 is also located along Bristol Road, directly across from the Neshaminy Falls SEPTA Station. Bristol Road also provides access to the King David Cemetery located immediately southeast of the Neshaminy Mall.
This highway improvement project consists of widening and intersection improvements to Bristol Road between Old Lincoln Highway and Pasqualone Boulevard in Bensalem Township. Bristol Road is a two-lane urban minor arterial roadway. The project length is approximately 2 miles, and includes milling and overlay of the existing pavement, roadway widening, intersection improvements, drainage improvements, and the reconstruction of five existing traffic signals and installation of one new signal. Total reconstruction of the existing pavement section is not anticipated.
-
All lanes of traffic are required to be maintained throughout the life of the project. Successful application of maintenance and protection of traffic along the corridor will be essential for this project due to the heavy concentration of commuter traffic and for the access of emergency services.
-
With limited right-of-way throughout the corridor, the location of traffic control devices including signals and interconnect equipment, proved challenging based on the directive of minimizing impacts to adjacent parcels.
