Century's Local Community Support Efforts
December 4, 2008
Century Engineering is proud of ours and more importantly our employee’s ongoing efforts to support our local communities. Some local non-profit organizations that Century has been involved within this past year include: Vehicles for Change, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, and the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum.
Century donated a total of 11 vehicles in the past two years. Century, with the assistance of Vehicles for Change, has helped 4 worthy families in the Maryland and Virginia Region. Specifically we have helped a) a single mother with 2 children in VA; b) a single mother with 1 child in VA; c) a single mother with 3 children in Baltimore City; and d) a single Dad with 2 children in Montgomery County, Maryland. Our other 7 vehicles netted a total of $10,000 in revenue for the VFC. These funds are used to repair other vehicles resulting in an additional 10 more cars being awarded to worthy families. Century has provided the opportunity for 14 families to obtain a car which is providing them the opportunity to obtain better jobs, spend more time with their families and take their children to after-school, recreational and athletic activities never before possible.
What we are really excited about this time of year is our annual Holiday Adoption of several less fortunate families. Throughout the month of December Century Employees donate gifts, food, hygiene products and gift cards. These Holiday Care Packages are boxed and delivered the week before Christmas to Church Sponsor. This Holiday Project is a time honored tradition that we will continue for years to come.
