ACEC Grand Award Announcement

The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Maryland has awarded Century Engineering, Inc. the 2006 Grand Award in the Engineering Excellence Awards Competition for the B&O Museum Emergency Remedial Repairs project.

Century Engineering, Inc. received the Grand Award for their ability to stabilize and rebuild the Roundhouse of the B &O Museum in a manner which maintained its original architecture and to sustain its historical centerpiece in downtown Baltimore. The Roundhouse collapsed in February of 2003 due to the impact and weight of the President’s Day snowstorm. The restoration was needed not only to repair damages to the Roundhouse but to upgrade the structure to withstand future large snowstorms, as well as modern-day, code prescribed loads.

William Rockey, P.E. acted as Principal in Charge and Pamela Coleman, P.E., acted as the Project Manager for Century Engineering’s multi-disciplined engineering effort to rebuild this National Historical Landmark.
