Century Engineering provided civil engineering, expert testimony for a special exception/variance hearing, geotechnical engineering, topographic survey and stakeout services for the construction of Fisher Hall. Fisher Hall is a 12,000 square foot, two story library/ commons addition to the existing Upper School, which achieved LEED® Gold Certification, with associated parking lots, septic areas, stormwater management and amenity areas.

Century Engineering’s responsibilities included schematic design, preparation of demolition/tree save plans, final grading and sediment control plans, stormwater management design (quality and quantity), site plan and details, private utility plans, profiles and specifications. Century coordinated with subconsultants for the preparation of forest buffer protection plans.

Sustainable Design Features:
  • Upgrades to the existing septic system serving the existing Upper School and relocation of the existing septic system for the Chapel required analysis of existing flows and determining which septic areas the existing buildings are discharging.
  • Coordination with the adjoining Girl’s School to allow the loop road to be located on their property and coordination for the combined septic reserve areas for use by the two schools.
  • Coordination with MDE for the removal and disposal of underground storage tank encountered during excavating operations.
  • Formalizing forest buffer areas that had been established previously by creating easements and preparing easement plats to be recorded at Baltimore County Land records.
