The project consists of a new 2-story 12,000 square foot upper school building, at-grade parking lot, 1,100-foot access roadway, and stormwater management facilities at the St. Paul’s School campus. Geotechnical engineering services consisted of test borings and test pits, laboratory testing, geotechnical evaluation and preparation of a geotechnical report for the proposed construction. The subsurface investigation included drilling 14 test borings to depths of 35 feet with track-mounted and truck-mounted drill rigs, and test pit excavation with a track-mounted mini-excavator. The soils laboratory testing program included moisture content, compaction, and soil classification. The report included subsurface data obtained, laboratory test results, and recommendations for design of building foundations, embankment construction, pavement, and stormwater management facilities.
-
Determining the type, depth, and dimensions of the existing upper school building foundations in the area of the new building foundations.
-
Providing evaluation and recommendations regarding the existing underground utilities and existing building construction within the footprint of the new building.
- Evaluating in-situ infiltration rate of soils for stormwater management design, and recommendations for an underground stormwater management facility.
