This project involved geotechnical analysis and laboratory material testing for the construction of a pumping station at the Little Patuxent Water Reclamation Plant and about 11,800 linear feet of 16-inch HDPE force main. Investigation included 65 roadway and/or soil borings. Extensive laboratory testing was also conducted to determine the classification and suitability for use as backfill for the soils along the force main alignment. A report was prepared with our findings and recommendations for the force main installation, pipe bedding, thrust restraint, tunneling at major roadway and railroad crossings, and earthwork.
Lab Testing:
- Classification
- Compaction
- Tunnel Crossings.
- Excavation support along heavily trafficked roadways.
