Century Engineering designed railcar storage tracks onsite for 120 railcars and on an onsite railcar offloading facility that will have capacity for 20 railcars at a time (10 each side of the offloading rack). Phase II involved dedicated ethanol transfer lines from the 20 car offloading rack over the neighboring CITGO tanks. Civil services included Chesapeake Bay Critical Area compliance, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control for Phase II of this project. The project scope included master planning for water and sewer service for ultimate site build-out, NPDES permitting, oil operations permitting, fire protection system design, air distribution system design and installation of a packaged air compressor unit.
- Site is within the 100-year flood plain, therefore, the design needed to accommodate floodproofing of mechanical equipment and the offloading rack.
- The fill required to accommodate this floodplain required a City of Baltimore Fill in Floodplain Variance with Alternatives Analysis that required concurrent MDE Wetlands and Waterways review and approval.
- The Baltimore City Critical Area Management Program Manual stimulated the need for a Critical Area Management Plan which incorporated shoreline stabilization and installation/retrofitting of a Critical Area vegetative buffer using native plant materials.
