Each of the states in which Century operates has adopted, continuous education and professional development requirements to maintain licensure. Century offers on-line training for every employee to obtain their training hours. We also employ a software tracking tool to support all of our professionals in staying current with their licensure in multiple states. Century encourages all staff to obtain registrations and certifications as soon as qualified or achieved. Century will assist financially with preparation for tests, test fees and renewal fees required by each state. Also, Century may request a professional to obtain additional licensure in various states in which we operate.
Our company is only as strong as its people, and its people are only as strong as the time they devote to their development. Professional and technical societies are the best and most available method to develop an individual’s technical and social skills set, as well as stay informed of contemporary issues and changes in the engineering industry.

Engineering and technical staff members are encouraged to participate as active members of appropriate technical societies and professional organizations.

Some of the Trade and Professional Associations in which we have memberships are: American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), American Institute of Architecture (AIA), Association of Construction and Engineering (ACE), American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), American Society of Landscape Architecture (ASLA), Chesapeake Area Society of Healthcare Engineering (CASHE), County Engineers Association of Maryland (CEAM), Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), International Facility Managers Association (IFMA), and Association for Bridge Construction and Design (ABCD).

We believe our company goals are achieved through partnership with strong and knowledgeable employees. Thus, Century supports the education and training of our staff, preparing you for the future, thereby aligning the company for success.

Financial assistance is provided for regular full-time employees who wish to further their technical education and who have completed twelve months of service, or where the course is required by the company as a condition of employment. Each course must be work related and taken at an approved educational institution. Tuition and related fees are reimbursed up to 75%.

Century also invests in various forms of training depending on each individual’s objective and position. Training is offered in technical competence and advancement, project management and financial skills, marketing development, and leadership initiatives. These four themes make up the heart of our Project Management Training Program. Continuous development critical to the long term success of both you and the company, is an integral part of each individual’s annual performance review.

As responsible corporate citizens, Century must play its part to give back and contribute to the fabric of each community. As such, Century is active and philanthropically involved in all of our communities in numerous efforts to help our neighbors. From board participation on dozens of regional non-profits, to annual contributions, Century is engaged.

Membership in civic organizations, service clubs, luncheon clubs and charities is encouraged. Beyond our money, our time and talent can help others as well. We encourage each employee to be active for his or her own benefit – and those who they are serving.

Community and Charitable Involvement:

Additional organizations include: United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, SPCA, Humane Society of Harford County, Uplift Inc., Urban Land Institute, Harrisburg Young Professionals, and Downtown York Inc.

We believe a healthy mind yields higher productivity. Employees who regularly enjoy a time of respite are refreshed to do their best. Century encourages its employees to take scheduled time off with their family, or simply relax in their own way. To that end, we offer a combined sick and vacation leave time for eligible regular employees as detailed below.

121 Months and over: 5 weeks of leave

Each year Century issues an eight(8) day holiday schedule for all full-time regular employees. These holidays usually are:

Thanksgiving Day
Friday after Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
New Year’s Day

Depending on the calendar and at the company’s discretion, the company may adjust a scheduled holiday.

Century Engineering offers an optional 401(k) Retirement Plan with Prudential Financial. Under this Plan, all eligible employees who have completed three months of continuous employment may elect to have pre-tax deductions taken from their pay to fund their retirement account. Century Engineering matches 50% of the first 6% of the employee’s contributions with no cap in salary. This match helps each participating employee to achieve their retirement goals.
Century offers two flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to help employees save on taxes: the Dependent Care FSA and the Medical FSA. The plans allow you to pay on a pretax, salary reduction basis for eligible dependent care expenses or health care expenses not covered by your medical, dental, or vision plans.
Century offers our employees a Volunteer Time Off Program (VTO) which supports community engagement opportunities for Century Engineering employees that help those in need.  Century recognizes that participating in these activities enriches and inspires the lives of our employees and encourages its employees to help others in various charitable initiatives throughout our communities.

The VTO program covers the following areas:
* Support activities that enhance and serve the communities in which we live and work
* Use your expertise to address issues that impact quality of life and to support environmental initiatives.
* Support communities that are impacted by disasters.
All eligible employees can use VTO up to 8 hours per calendar year on a selected day.

We want you to enjoy life to its fullest. The only way that happens is by sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Thus, Century has created WellSteps program to encourage employees to think about their health first. Nutrition, exercise and peace of mind lead to productive employees both at work and at home. We want that for you. To give you peace of mind, we offer many of the posted benefits.
All full-time employees are eligible to enroll in Century’s medical insurance plan. Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following one complete month of employment. The coverage provides both in-network and out-of-network coverage for the employee and family members. This program is tailored to the office location with the cost of coverage being shared between Century and the employee. The premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis.
All full-time employees are eligible to enroll in Century’s dental insurance plan. Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following one complete month of employment. The coverage provides for services rendered by any dentist for the employee and family members. This program is tailored to the office location with the cost of coverage being shared between Century and the employee. The premiums are payroll deducted on a pre-tax basis.
All full-time employees are eligible to enroll in Century’s vision insurance plan. Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following one complete month of employment. The coverage provides for services rendered by any ophthalmologist for the employee and family members. This program is tailored to the office location with the cost of coverage being shared between Century and the employee. The premiums are payroll deducted on a pre-tax basis.
Century Engineering provides life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment benefits to all full-time employees at no cost to the employee. Coverage provided by the company is one time the annual salary to a maximum benefit of $50,000. Each employee is also offered the choice to purchase additional life and AD&D insurance to help with future planning issues.
Additional Life insurance is available up to $500,000 (upon acceptance) or five times your annual salary. The cost of this optional coverage is completely absorbed by the employee.
Short Term Disability insurance covers absences from work caused by an injury or illness occurring outside of work. This plan pays 66.67% of the employee’s monthly base salary subject to a maximum of $1,500 per week after a 14-day waiting period has been satisfied. Earnings are retroactively paid from the eleventh working day of disability. The cost of this coverage is entirely covered by the company.
Long Term Disability insurance covers absences from work caused by an injury or illness occurring outside of work. This plan pays 60% of the employee’s monthly base salary subject to a maximum of $6,000 per month after a 121-day waiting period has been satisfied. The cost of this coverage is entirely covered by the company.
Century provides Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance benefits to all full-time employees at no cost to the employee. Coverage is one times the annual salary to a maximum benefit of $50,000.
