The existing single and 2-story school built in 1958, including the additions constructed in 1965 and 1968, totals approximately 120,000 square feet. The original 100,000 square foot building was not air conditioned with the exception of a variety of individual spaces including the administration area and the band room, while the additions constructed in 1965 and 1968 were not air-conditioned at all.

Century was contracted as the Prime Professional to design a new 400-ton air conditioning system to serve the 120,000 square foot school. Project features include:

  • Existing domestic hot water replaced by two new gas fired domestic water heaters
  • Extensive system of new piping and ductwork
  • New 277,480 volt, 1600 amp service and padmounted transformer
  • Backup generator to provide needed power to critical systems in the event of power failure
  • Existing 10,000 gallon oil tank removed
Challenges Encountered:
  • Completing renovation over a single summer.
  • Locating condensers on the roof due to space and budget limitations.
