This project involved a new 3-story, 39,000 square foot nursing home building connected to the existing Coggins Building on the campus. The lower level included conference rooms, offices and utility spaces. Each of the upper levels provided 34 patient rooms. Mechanical and electrical services were extended from the existing central plants in the Dunning Auditorium building and Coggins Building. Project features include:
- Chiller connected to existing condenser water
- Converter connected to existing steam boilers
- Built-up air-handling units
- Dual temperature pumps with standby unit
- Fan coil unit in each patient room
- New medical gases storage and distribution
- Power extended from existing substation
- Automatic Transfer Switches provided for critical, emergency and standby
- Extension of fire alarm, nurse call and security
- Designing and coordinating utility extensions from various existing facility buildings without impacting their operation.
- Designing to minimize utility loads so existing services did not require upgrade.
