This project involved the complete renovation of the 55,000 square foot one-story building with 14,000 square feet of additions. One of the additions was a new media center that allowed for expansion of the cafeteria and the relocation of the full cooking kitchen. All classrooms were upgraded with four new ones provided. A new mechanical mezzanine was integrated into the existing boiler room. All mechanical and electrical systems and equipment were removed with the exception of two newer boilers. Project features include:
- 2-pipe HVAC system with new chiller and pumps
- Unit ventilators and fan coil units in classrooms
- Rooftop units with central plant and DX coils
- New sprinkler system with fire pump
- Indirect fluorescent lighting throughout
- Multi-level lighting in gymnasium
- Generator backup for emergency and standby
- Telephone, LAN, PA and media retrieval
- Fire alarm and security systems
- Designing an affordable mechanical system that could still provide for the zoned temperature control of the areas specified by the owner.
- Designing for conditioning of administration, cafeteria and library without having to run the central plant chiller.
