This project included design, permitting and governmental agency liaisons for the installation of three 34 kV submarine cables in the Severn River at Annapolis, MD. The cable crossing, which was more than 3,000 feet long, was complicated by the need for a Joint Federal/State Tidal Wetland Permit/ Waterway Construction Permit, Anne Arundel and Annapolis Critical Area permits, and the City of Annapolis Port Wardens Permit. Century also prepared a Critical Area Mitigation Plan and a landscaping plan to replace vegetation disturbed by the on-land portion of the work. Century worked closely with the government and non-government environmental interest groups during the design phase and, as a result of our efforts, the project was approved by all agencies with a minimum of public opposition.
- Meeting all environmental requirements for the Maryland Department of the Environment, Corps of Engineers, City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
- Alleviating the concerns of local environmental groups.
- Designing a constructible project.
