Century provided the engineering and design of a new gas and electric distribution system for this active military base with 50,000 active duty military and civilian personnel. The new system replaced the aging utility infrastructure and was designed to meet current standards for reliability, safety and efficiency. The design supplies gas and electric to approximately 300 government buildings, including barracks, training facilities, educational facilities, detentions facilities, hospitals, and other structures. The design effort included consideration of future base expansion and current and future communication systems to prevent construction or operation interference.

• Working with a lack of records showing the location of the existing underground utilities.
• Building a new underground system while keeping the existing overhead system in service.
• Maintaining vehicle and personnel access on base at all times.
