This project involved the construction and rehabilitation of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, one of the country’s premier venues for staging agriculture and a variety of other large shows.
With most of the existing 600,000 square foot facility and 84-acre site in the 100-year flood plain, Century assisted with site master planning, then completed timely flood studies. Additionally, Century designed and received local municipal approvals for a 2,000 space off-site parking lot to be served by bus transit for access via new busway to the complex as well as designed all site improvements to support a new 178,000 square foot Exhibition Hall, 19,000 square foot lobby connector, a 1,750 seat horse area, a horse barn, one kiosk for a parking attendant, and two bus shelters. Century provided preliminary/final land development plans, stormwater plans, erosion and sedimentation control plans, traffic impact studies, highway occupancy permitting, and lighting/power plans in accordance with the applicable municipal ordinances including Conservation District, PennDOT, and DEP approvals.
-
As a fast-track project, Century prepared four separate bid packages for the site improvements to support a phased approach orchestrated by the construction manager.
-
Balancing all site improvements to successfully demonstrate no increase to the 100-year flood elevation after construction.
- Obtaining PennDOT Highway Occupancy Plan approvals for off-site parking and the new Farm Show entrance that transformed circulation patterns for major events.
-
Critical municipal approvals were received in record time to allow the start of construction within 90 days from design NTP.
