Century provided geothermal and engineering design support for the new state-of-the-art 210,000 square foot, 3-story high school building consisting of classrooms, chapel, science labs, computer labs, theatre, fine arts music and arts, media center and dining hall with a food court and full service kitchen.
Original design intent had an Earth Coupled Geothermal heating/cooling system targeted for the mechanical system. Early in the design process it was determined that excessive costs of a Geothermal Well system would prevent construction of such a system at this time. To this end a water source heat pump system was designed as the buildings primary system. This system included cooling towers and boilers that take the place of the Geothermal Well system. In the future if a geothermal system is desired, the boilers and cooling tower will be disconnected and replaced with connections to the Geothermal Wells and new pumping systems system will be provided. Project features include:
- Athletic facilities consisting of two major gymnasiums, weight/training, team room, and locker room facilities.
- Administrative offices including President and Principal Suites.
- Staff work rooms throughout the building.
- Major gallery space for pre-function and special events.
-
Designing a mechanical system that could be readably convertible to a geothermal system if so desired in the future.
- Isolating mechanical equipment noise and maximizing usable floor space.
